Hi Folks... 12th July, '07

Well we got plenty of gigs coming up for the "die-hards", the one in Blackpool sounds like fun (think I'll take my bucket and spade!). Lots of new songs as always for you all to hear, we don't want to be resting on our laurels now do we. Tell your mates and come on down to a gig near you and say "Hi..." See you soon. Rock On.

Hello Bolton 31st March, '07

Hi folks. Well, it's been quite a couple of weeks.

As anyone who knows me knows, I do some acoustic busking here and there. Well, to my surprise the Bolton News asked me the other week if I'd care to write a song about my hometown (er, Bolton)? “OK!”, I said, and spent all of a hour or so doing it. Next thing you know the paper filmed me and Linda singing it in Bolton. Since then the reaction has been, to put it mildly, amazing! The response was so strong that the paper has now made it available as a download and you can get it as a ringtone.

Also - and this is the biggy - Bolton Wanderers are to feature the video at half-time on sat and interview me so its been a bit of a roller-coaster. I just hope a lot of people won't be put off when checking out the band because we ain't an acoustic trio - no sir! So, if anyone wants to come see us that hasn't already, be prepared for ‘another side of Nick Bold’.... the ELECTRIC side!

Out And About 14th February, '07

Hi folks, well as you can see from the giglist we're still playing out and about all over the place. Particularly looking forward to the Burnley Blues and Sowerby festivals coming up before too long and it'd be great to see some of our ever growing army of fans down at these gigs - they're sure to be loads of fun.

The band, as always, is adding new material (both original and the odd cover) which we feel helps to keep the whole thing fresh and stop us resting on our laurels (whatever they are ?!). Also we genuinely believe we owe it to everyone if you're gonna keep coming back to support us at all our shows time and time again. Too right!

To Our Loyal Fans 28th October, '06

Just like to say thanks to all the loyal fans and friends who continue to support us on our “quest for world domination”. You know who you are and it means so much to the band, so THANK YOU. The band is always working on new stuff to keep not only you lot but also ourselves interested as we hate the thought of getting stale. We feel the present set is the best yet and has a strong sense of dynamics. See you all soon folks. Nick

Thanks Ben 22nd August, '06

Well folks due to various pressures and commitments we're sad to announce that our dear friend Ben has had to leave The Nick Bold Band. Linda and I just want to say a big thank you (sob, sob) to him for all he's done and we'll miss the stabling effect he has on the band and not least his rock solid drumming... so All The Best Ben and thanks a million from us!

However it's not all bad news because taking over the sticks is onehelluvamotherofadrummer in one Mr. Rick Lacy! This guy can PLAY let me tell you! For a number of years he's been the heartbeat of The Roach Twins Blues Band, played in Chris Cullen's side project Stone Park and also plays with OV8 so the guy is in DEMAND, know what I'm saying? We feel privileged and proud to welcome him aboard and are very much looking forward to getting out and rocking our socks off soon. - N.B.

Blues Matters! Review 8th June, '06

Here's an extract from the June/July Issue (No. 32) of Blues Matters!, as reviewed by Rick Lacy:

"...ten blinding tracks that follow on from each other in a coherent pattern, held down by tight drums and smooth bass playing. The songs are well crafted and you can hear the Beatles influences running through, as you can hear Nick's Blues roots. There are good harmonies, sometimes subtle, sometimes powerful. There are also guitar parts reminiscent of the great Santana and backing vocals that wouldn't be out of place on a Pink Floyd album. This album isn't one you can categorize or pigeon hole. The one thing it definitely is though, is my favourite album of 2006 so far."

Album Reaction 7th March, '06

So far the album's getting a terrific reaction off everyone that's bought it. Chris Cullen (Ramsbottom Festival Organizer mainman) wrote a spectacular review giving it a whopping 10 out of 10 (cheers Chris!), so there you go, we must be doing something right! If anyone wants a copy just contact me or catch us at any of the forth coming gigs and if there's any left (!) you can purchase one then and there. Rock on, N.

Post Album Launch 16th February, '06

Well the album launch went off with a bang and a great night was had by all at the 3 Pigeons (not least the band!). After 3 encores, we decided enough was enough, though it felt like we could have played all night. Many CDs were sold and the best part of that (er, apart from the dosh!)is that our music is reaching out and people are getting to know the songs. If anyone missed the gig and wants to catch us, just check the ever expanding Gig list for an update on where we're playing next. See you soon folks!

Album Lunch Party 29th January, '06

Ok folks, anyone who fancies coming to the official CD launch party at the 3 Pigeons in Bolton on 11th Feb is most welcome. It'll be a great night and lots of friends are coming down to support us so come along and pick up your copy of the CD before they all sell out as they're going like HOT CAKES!!! Be there or be square!

New Album Out Now 19th January, '06

So here it is folks!!! The new album “Full Circle” is now out and available at all our gigs priced £7 (very fair I reckon too!).

We're very proud of it and it's taken a lot of hard work to get it sounding just right but I think we've done it. Early reactions from fans that already have it are pretty spectacular. One guy told me last week he thought the guitar sounds were reminiscent of (dare I even say it?) Led Zep's Physical Graffiti... well that'll do me!!! We'll try and organise an official album launch if we can soon.

All Finished 19th December, '05

Well the recording's finally finished now. It took a lot longer than anticipated folks, I can tell you! As John Lennon famously sang “Life is what happens to you when you're busy making other plans” and it certainly applies here as holidays and all sorts of stuff we hadn't planned for sidetracked us.

Anyway, we're looking at a release in the new year now and I guess that's as good a time as any. I believe it'll be worth the wait though people, for sure! As a taster, we've put samples of 2 or 3 songs for you all to have a listen to to hopefully whet your appetites. We'd love to hear what you think of them. See you all in the new year and have a Merry Xmas and Rockin' New Year.

Pushing Back 24th October, '05

The release date may have to go back a couple of weeks as I've just come up with a song I'd very much like to go on the album (these things happen!), so please be patient everybody - it'll be worth it I promise!!! Also, I'm glad to have my Telecaster back after a refret by Phil Hartley and can't wait to hear it on the new track.

Album Update 23rd September, '05

The recording's been going tremendously well, in fact, we've just finished the last remaining backing vocals this morning and it's starting to sound fantastic. I love it when you stand back from the recording after not hearing it for a while and you can hear how all the hard work has all paid off and all the arrangements fit together and complement each other. We're hoping to have the album out mid-November, so stay tuned.

Recent Gigs 16th September, '05

The few gigs the band have done have been an unqualified success by anybody's standard. “We're finding out what works and what doesn't as regards the live repetoire. Luckily I wrote the stuff with the intention of it 'connecting' on a first listen basis live as I know people have a very short attention span these days and they're also subjected to SO much music that if we are gonna make any kind of mark our stuff has to have immediate impact”, says Nick. “We're certainly looking forward to getting out there again to reach as many people as possible. To put it simply we're the kind of live band I would love to see and hear myself, that's all I know”.

New Material 29th August, '05

Since forming in January The Nick Bold Band have been working steadily on new material Nick has been writing recently plus a few old gems that he's had lying around for a couple of years. “I love playing with Linda and Ben, the chemistry between us just works....and I know I've been looking for it long enough!” Says Nick. “Bands are very complicated things, and egos, which we all have usually get in the way in the end. It's a case of respecting each other and everyone feeling comfortable in their role. I'm just trying not to tempt fate by thinking too far ahead because we could split up tomorrow, but at the same I can't help dreaming what could be if we kept working at this rate...”.
